Abstract |
Foot Soldier Charlie with others waiting to sail home at camp in Le Havre France. Phil Andersen wrote, "One of our responsibilities was to get up early, make a fire and put on the coffee pot. A super, black guy named Charlie accompanied my unit. He got up early very morning and made a fire for us. I told him that he didn't have to do that every morning. I would take a turn. He said, "No, I get up early, and I like to do it." |
