Show A group photograph of sixteen student nurses standing or sitting in a uniform two row pose. The first row is sitting in what appears to be metal folding chairs and the back row is standing. They pose in front of a brick structure which looms in the background with a ventilation cover visible on the far left side. All the nurses are wearing light colored nursing uniforms donned with nurses' caps. Their shoes and hosiery are light colored. Their hairstyles are varied from either being pulled on top of the head or worn down. Both the nurse at far right and second from far right on the back row have variations to their uniforms. The nurse second from far right has a frilled handkerchief spilling over her shoulder pocket, and the nurse far right wears a pin on her shoulder. |
| Further Information |
The photograph is in poor condition. It has been torn from a beige construction paper backing from which it was glued to at one time. The result has damaged the integrity of the photograph by leaving white creases. On the front bottom left hand side, written in white letters is, "St. Mark's Hospital School of Nursing [,] Aug. 21, 1946." The back is covered with the remains of the beige construction paper and what appears to be a remnant of a newspaper article on top of that. Written in pencil is "Jrs[.] + seniors." The remnants of the newspaper article reveal a portion of a woman's face and a portion of the caption beneath it which reads: "Willes has been one of [this portion has been torn away] [sic] tanding nurses in Utah." |
