OCR Text |
Show A studio portrait of eight nurses who are dressed in full nurse uniform with the exception of one nurse seated in the center who is wearing an elaborate dress with a high color and lace. All the nurses are wearing caps and have their hair pulled upon their heads. They are posing in a front and back row position. The five nurses in the front are seated in wooden high back chairs and the remaining three nurses are standing in the back. The background is dark except for in the center where it appears a light is illuminating the backdrop behind the nurses. It is the only light contrast besides the nurse's apparel in the photograph. The rest of the photograph is extremely dark. There is little foreground because the photo is emphasizing the nurses. What little foreground there is reveals an area rug beneath them. |
Further Information |
On the back in blue grease pencil is written, " Mable Eager Barnard (Right front Row)". Glued below this is a blue photo description tag that says the following: "The Salt Lake Tribune ART [heading] Slug Graduation, size 1x4, for use [circled] Monday/Idaho, delivery cuts Sunday. " There is a stamp that has been placed vertically at the bottom left hand that signifies a received date for, "The Salt Lake Tribune Library". The received date is June 1, 1970[?]. A red grease pencil has been written over the last digit. The photograph is medium size and rectangular in shape. The quality of this photograph is extremely poor. According to the blue grease pencil the nurse seated at far right is Mable Eager Barnard. However, it appears that she wasn't even part of the original shoot. Barnard's image has been implanted from another photograph. There are red crop marks on the front right hand side of the photograph and obvious damage in the poor attempt of imposing Bernard's image. Imposing the image of Bernard has caused irreversible damage and integrity to two nurses who were part of the original photography shoot. The nurse standing in back on the far right has been faded almost beyond recognition and the nurse seated second from far right has a smear that runs along her left arm and shoulder. |
