All the nurses are wearing caps and have their hair pulled upon their heads. They are posing in a front and back row position. The five nurses in the front are seated in wooden high back chairs and the remaining three nurses are standing in the back. The background is dark except for in the center where it appears a light is illuminating the backdrop behind the nurses. It is the only light contrast besides the nurse's apparel in the photograph. The rest of the photograph is extremely dark. There is little foreground because the photo is emphasizing the nurses. What little foreground there is reveals an area rug beneath them.
