Description |
To evaluate the effects of a comprehensive intervention to help promote sleep in stable, postsurgical, acute care patients. Allowing patients to sleep is not a new idea, but as identified in a literature review, a topic that needs more interventional-based research. The sample size goal is 200 participants, which will be achieved in August 2017. Implementing this night time sleep protocol in a hospital unit could to better allocate staff to care for patients with greater acuity and nursing care requirements. There is also the potential for cost savings if fewer nurses are required during night time shifts. |
