Description | The Purposes of the Investigation. when the Committee met in October, 1941, the problem of divorce in Salt Lake County was selected as the research project for the academic year, 1941-42. The writer was instructed to discover, if possible, such facts as the frequency of divorce in this area, the length of carriage of divorced couples, the place of marriage, the number and characteristics of the children involved, the general nature of the financial settlements, and the person to whom children wore awarded. Such basic data as these were thought necessary in order for the Committee to propose methods of strengthening the family to meet the present war emergency. |
