The Homesteading Act brought Red Wash Jones and his wife, Arie, and daughter, Jessie, came to Colorado where his daughter filed for a homestead at the foot of Blue Mountain on Red Wash. He built a cabin, fences and other necessary improvements to prove up on the land. This is how he got the nickname "Red Wash Jones". |
