Description The family Rhabdoviridae consists of viruses that have either a unique bullet-shaped morphology or are rounded at both ends. It is this shape from which their name is derived (from the Greek rhabdos, meaning ""rod""). The rhabdoviruses all contain single-stranded RNA. There are two genera in the family: Vesiculovirus and Lyssavirus.
