Description 8535 Samuel P. Hoyt residence in Hoytsville, Utah (south elevation). Photo by Joseph H. Porath. The Hoyt Mansion at Hoytsville, erected in 1863, built of hand chiselled sandstone, a remarkable example of stone masonry at its best. The place is now cared for by the R.C. Crittendens. It is a vertiable Pioneer museum. Mrs. Crittenden has furnished and restored the place with authentic period furnishings. The living room, kitchen and the seven bedrooms are almost exactly like they might have been while the Hoyt family lived there. An extra attraction is the marvelous doll collection Mrs. Crittenden has acquired through the years. It is amazing, hundreds, it may be thousands of dolls and doll buggies of early pioneer times down to some of the most recent types of dolls of various couts are presented here; a work of patience and love. Adjoining the mansion are the Ruins of the Gristmill, which was completed in 1862. It had a short active life, because the Weber River altered its course away from it and rendered it useless.
