Pair of Flathead ganuntlet gloves (women's) dating 1927. Cuffs are fully beaded in spot stitch on one surface with a coral-colored rose motif outlined in dark red, with maroon cut-glass bead stamens; leaves and stems are green with light lime green veins in the leaves. A second rose motif is worked on the body of each glove; leaves are solid green, rose is coral with dark red outlining, and a small coral bud is woked at the top of the motif. Cuffs are lined with yellow cotton fabric, well; anchored within the constructoin of the gloves and bound by the leather trim at the top; vertical rows of machine stitching further anchor the cloth to the leather on the plain side of the cuff. Marked in pen on the cotton cloth of both gloves are the words "A/K, ANS, Flathead Indian, Western Montana, 9-19-1927.". Width 18.5, Length 30.5 Centimeters |
