Description Skookum papoose doll wrapped in a red wool pocket with a dark blue bead at the bottom. Pocket is sewn onto a double fringed piece of red wool with a leather strap at the top. A doll with a plaid hair scarf, a plastic painted face and black yarn hair sits in the pocket. A feather is glued to the front of the pocket.; ; ; Skookum dolls were created and patented by Mary McAboy in 1914. She began with dried apple heads, but the heads were factory made from the 1920's - 1960's using plastic. There are no arms and the doll is wrapped in Indian style blankets. Face looks to the right mostly. Skookum means "Bully Good" - a Siwash word.. Height 25, Width 7 Centimeters
