Description |
Oral History Interview by Ken Verdoia with Governor Herbert Maw. Governor Maw served as the Governor of Utah from 1941-1949, when he was defeated in a bid for a third term. As Governor during the war years, Mr. Maw was confronted with a wide variety of issues pertaining to the relocation of ethnic Japanese to Utah. As Governor, he issued many statements in support of ethnic Japanese, and resisted efforts to subject them to unusually restrictive laws. Governor Maw maintained a limited law practice in Salt Lake City. |
