Description Scan of a printed pamphlet (9 pages) containing the text of a radio speech entitled "Government fiscal and monetary policy," by Federal Reserve Chairman Marriner S. Eccles, broadcast over the National Broadcasting Company radio network on 23 January 1939, and the transcript (12 pages) of the speech. Also a transcript (17 pages) of an open letter intended for publication on 16 January 1939, written by Virginia Senator Harry F. Byrd to Marriner S. Eccles, responding to Eccles's letter of 22 December 1938; a transcript (10 pages) of the address by Senator Byrd given 10 December 1938 before the Massachusetts Federation of Taxpayer Associations in Boston which prompted Eccles's letter; and correspondence related to Eccles's January speech, including an exchange of letters between Eccles and C. J. Zintheo, agricultural engineer and President of Pacific Industries, Inc., in Seattle, Washington. The latter includes an essay (6 pages) by Zintheo entitled "Future Reclamation."
