Found at Beaver, Utah. Metate and stone hatch disc to cover opening in top of house. See Judd, Bulletin 87, Bu. Am. Eth. The word in the Pahvant language for metate is Mah-ra and for Mano? is Moh-a or Mo-a. Stone disc about 33 inches in diameter, and about 2 inches thick. Slide it over opening in bad weather. Enter house from hole in top. |
