Description |
Pathologic studies of patients with AIDP both with and without ophthalmoparesis usually show no lesions in the CNS. Involvement of the CNS thus is considered quite unusual in most patients with AIDP, although apparently it can occur simultaneously on rare occasions. Immune reactions against target epitopes in Schwann-cell surface membrane or myelin cause AIDP in about 85% of cases. Central chromatolysis affecting the nuclei of the ocular motor and other cranial nerves has been demonstrated. |
