Description Matthew Basso describes his path into and love of the humanities, beginning in high school. He carried that on through his college career, attending Vassar College, and then University of Montana and, finally, the University of Minnesota where he earned his PhD in American Studies. He is currently an associate professor of history and gender studies at the University of Utah and affiliated with the University's American West Center. He has long partnered with Utah Humanities on projects; he shares about how important it is to hear the voice of all individuals and how Utah Humanities supports this effort.
