Description |
Dr. Leroy Kay, Uinta Basin paleontologist with world recognition for his work of Utah's dinosaurs, passed away on May 16, 1971. The year prior to his death he was voted honorary life member of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology. He worked along with and was assistant to Earl Douglass. Dr. Kay discovered the smallest known dinosaur, only nine inches long. He later became the curator at the Carnegie Musuem in Pittsburgh, Pennsyvania. He was instrumental in the duplication and erectrion of the Diplodocus skeleton in Vernal known as Dippy. Hs born March 25, 1892 and moved to Vernal when he was a boy. He married Lola York of Vernal. |
