Description Dr Peterson was born in Logan, Utah in 1929. Dr Peterson received his bachelor's degree and MD from Harvard University. Dr Peterson completed his internship and residency at Yale University. Dr Peterson returned to Utah in 1961 to serve on the staff of the Salt Lake Clinic. Dr Peterson returned to Boston to serve as the Dean of Admissions at Harvard in 1967. Dr Peterson later became Vice President of Alumni Affairs in 1972. Dr Peterson returned to Utah in 1977 to assume the position of Vice President of Health Sciences. Dr Peterson became the 14th president of the University of Utah in 1983. Dr Peterson retired as University president in 1991. After a distinguished career as a university administrator, Dr Peterson returned to the practice of medicine as a member of the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. Dr Peterson also served as a member of the School of Medicine admissions committee. Dr Peterson died in 2014.
