Description |
Color photograph of J.W.P 1869 inscription located near the rim of plateau above the Arches National Park Visitor Center. It is incised on low, cliffside wall. Purported by some to be the initials of scientist and explorer John Wesley Powell who in 1869 descended the Green and Colorado Canyons. However, he was nowhere near what later would be the Moab area. Probably spurious. |
