Description Color photograph of Nik Hougen sitting in chair, presumably in an old miners cabin somewhere in Grand County. Nik Hougen is a prominent Moab figure who who had a camp in the Grand County area from the 1970s to 2020s. He wrangeld for A.C. Ecker from 1973 to the late 1990s and then staked his claim at the camp below Big Mesa near Moab until November 2024. Staff at Navtech Expeditions in Moab became friends with Hougen and would do supply runs to and from his camp. Hougen was also a local jewelry maker and sold his jewelry in the region. These photos were found at his camp after he left to go live with family in Oregon.
