Crow beaded awl case and etched bone awl, dating 1890. Long conical leather case is wrapped tightly in strung beads, completely covering the surface.The pattern of simple color fields from the bottom progresses from light blue, followed by three lines of navy blue, a yellow field with one green bead follows; three lines of navy blue lead into another field of light blue with three triangles of navey blue at the top/opening. A piece of leather thong, attached at the base and split into three; strands creates a tassel at the bottom, and a pair leather thongs anchored within the beadwork creates a hanging loop. The bone awl is polished and has a hole through which a hanging thong loop is attached. A cross-hatch pattern of lines and bars is etched into the bone on the middle third of its length..
