Description |
Close twined winnowing tray measuring approximately 51 cm by 48.5 cm. Stitch is "s" slant using two elements. Warps are whole rod with two in each unit. Start appears to be ends drawn together and twined. Fowler describes starts of Southern Paiute as first pair of rim rods becoming warp rods. Although some of the start is broken, this start appears to differ. End elements fold toward the center from each side and overcast stitched to last twined row. This fits Fowler's general description of; Southern Piaute finish. Basket is approximately as wide as long stitching is continuous from convex side to concave. A large rim rod is coiled around basket at intervals. |
