Description Anterior ischemic optic neuropathy with ophthalmic artery occlusion usually results from giant cell arteritis (GCA), but can rarely occur due to dissection or atherosclerotic occlusion of the internal carotid artery (ICA). Here we present a rare case of severe vision loss in one eye as the sole presenting symptom of ICA occlusion causing cerebral infarction.
