Dr. Park Contemplates His Work. Dr. Park's tree was a buckeye, chosen by the doctor because he comes from the Buckeye state. It was a crooked little sapling, and despite the doctor's skill and science he had some difficulty in planting it upright. Of course this led to a disquisition on crookedness and contrariness in mankind by Justice Bartch, which was hailed with applause by the officials, but evidently bored the circle of gaping small boys. Mr. Burton planted his tree with the vim, earnestness and strict attention to business of a man afraid he might make a mistake and get laughed at.
