Title Rooftops the future of City development and urban design
Date 2023
Description By the year 2050, 68% of the world population will be living in urban areas. Continual sprawl is unsustainable, and because of that cities will become more dense, and will continue to build higher and closer together. With the rapidly urbanizing world, rooftops are often underutilized in the urban environment. Currently, 15-35% of the total land area in cities are rooftops but less than 2% of all urban rooftops are being utilized. Therefore rooftops become an interesting space for experimentation and exploration to find solutions for many problems cities are facing, including housing, climate change, food production, and lack of open space.
