Description |
Color scanned image of a drawing by Ricky Begaye of a snake. Ricky started drawing the outline of the snake while living in Monticello, and finished it while working with Alaska. In the Diné tribe, the snake is linked to evil. But the Navajo nation seal used to have a great serpent that protected the nation. The snake has a lot of importance and different meanings to many different Indigenous tribes. The drawing helps reintroduce old Navajo traditions in current times. |
