Description With modern day biotechnology it is possible to produce eucaryotic protein in bacteria. This relatively new form of technology is extremely useful for many reasons. First, through the use of this technology many useful proteins such as insulin and interferon can be manufactured in large quantities. Proteins such as these are currently being used to fight various diseases in man. Second, this technology enables scientists to make mutant proteins with which to study protein structure and function.
