The field at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational will be strong with over 15 teams, including eight of the top-30 teams, as well as six teams receiving votes (including Utah). Five of the eight teams are ranked in the top 10, including Colorado (2nd), Oregon (4th), Michigan (5th), Georgetown (7th) and Stanford (8th). Utah is currently ranked fourth in the region behind Colorado, New Mexico and BYU. |

The University of Utah women's cross country team wrapped up the NCAA Pre-Nationals Invitational in sixth place overall, led by the performances of sophomores Hannah McInturff and Sarah Feeny. The Utes began the day with seven runners competing in the six-kilometer red elite race. Leading the way for this group was Hannah McInturff, recording a time of 20:09 to capture fifth overall. Coming down the final stretch, McInturff was neck-in-neck with Michigan's Erin Finn. McInturff was able to persevere, beating Finn by a tenth of a second. Sarah Feeny posted a time of 20:21.1 for ninth place. Susannah Hurst Spencer crossed the line in 98th place after recording a time of 21:07.5. Jessica Sams and Andrea Chavez claimed 113th (21:12.3) and 139th (21.22.1) respectively for the Utes. Sophomore Shaylen Crook earned 154th (21:29.6) followed by redshirt junior Giselle Slotboom in 281st (22:26.0). Overall, the Utes earned sixth out of 45 teams competing with a team score of 350 points. Michigan won the meet with 131 points, followed by Colorado in second place and Oregon in third. All three are ranked in the top 10 nationally. In the open race, the Utes captured second out of eight teams with a total of 38 team points. Leading the way for the Utes in this race was senior transfer Jocelyn Todd. Todd recorded a time of 21:28.7 to earn sixth. Following closely in Todd's footsteps was sophomore Becky Sarmiento in 11th with a time of 21:49.8. Finishing 21st overall was Sadie Wassum, who finished in a time of 22:11.8. Kate Stingfellow and Dana Snell rounded out the Utah runners in 27th (22:20.9) and 28th (22:21.1) respectively. |
