Description Resident physicians are not just doctors, they are human beings that contain multitudes. Recognition of the inherent breadth of experience of individuals who pursue residency training leads to discovery of a variety of passions, which when shared, create community, encourage wellness, and combat burnout. The goal of the two wellness projects described here was to provide opportunities for resident physicians to spend time together outside of work sharing the hobbies and activities they enjoy with their colleagues. ExPRESS (Expert Pediatric Resident Extracurricular Sharing Series) aimed to provide a platform for pediatric residents to share their non-medical interests and skills and Screen CAPture aimed to create a space for psychiatry residents and fellows to watch and discuss movies with the theme of child mental health. Participants were surveyed before and after each of these wellness events and results showed an overall increase in participant wellness as well as feelings of connection with their peers. Qualitative results include comments from participants on increased feelings of self-efficacy, connection to their emotions, and feelings of relaxation. Some results were limited by low event attendance, and further data could be collected from non-attendees on what prevented them from attending wellness events or if these events are viewed as helpful.
