Content Description +/-

This collection consists of the records of the Administrative Computing Policy Committee at Westminster College of Salt Lake City from June 1993 to May 1994. The materials are primarily minutes of the Committee meetings; also included are several reports, logs, and spreadsheets. The committee was chaired by Stephen Morgan, who in 1993-1994 was Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Westminster College.

The earliest minutes in the collection date June 9, 1993. Attendees of that meeting were Stephen Morgan, Curtis Ryan, Craig Green, Janet Glaeser, Tom Maynard, Mindy Wennegren, Steve Baar, Frank Herriott, and Ruth Henneman. Dee Jacobs was added to the Committee in October 1993.

Updates on a job search were announced in the June and July 1993 meetings; Tom Maynard's promotion to Administrative Computing Manager was noted in the October 1993 minutes. Discussion included dates for various data releases (for example, financial aid awards), the upcoming Datatel Release 12, payroll system security, PC requests, network cards, and a priority list for action (reconsidered, edited, and reordered each meeting). Sheryl Phillips attended several July 1993 meetings and called for long-range planning for campus computer needs.

In the July 21, 1993 meeting, budget requests for PCs were examined. The need to fully track student employees was mentioned. In the next set of minutes, dating August 26, 1993, employee tracking of adjuncts was also considered, and a new e-mail system announced. Later minutes record discussions of an upgraded personnel module, capability to create grade rosters, and tracking sick and vacation time. Brief summaries of action points by office or function include: Accounting, Academic Support, Faculty contracts, Registrar, Financial Aid, Administration, Personnel, and the Development Office (announcing installment and training for the new "Benefactor" tracking system).

Other types of materials in the collection besides the minutes include: several "Open administrative work orders", dating 1991-1993; a "50,000 computer enhancement wish list", a "Hardware description" spreadsheet listing campus computer equipment, location, and contact person.

There is no indication in the minutes as to when the Committee disbanding but the last minutes in the collection date May 19, 1994, suggesting the Committee only met the summer preceding and during the 1993-1994 school year.
