Biographical Note/Historical Note +/-Over the years, the title of the chief academic officer of Westminster College has changed. From 1901-1976, sixteen men served as the Dean (of the College) charged with overseeing faculty affairs as part of their duties. Beginning in 1981, the title changed to "Academic Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty", and in 2003 to "Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs". Sheldon Jackson College (Salt Lake City, Utah) was in existence from 1895-1901. Robert Gibson McNiece was the Dean from 1897 through the 1901 transition to Westminster College, thus serving as the first dean of Westminster College from 1901-1913. Content Description +/-This collection consists of the records of various faculty committees dating from 1982-1985 at Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah. During these years, the Academic Vice-President and Dean of Faculty position was held by Douglas W. Steeples (1980-1983) and Allan Kuusisto (1983-1987). Materials including agenda, memoranda, minutes (drafts and final), recommendations, and reports. They were used to document the actions of the committees and to inform the faculty of their activities. Their agenda includes proposed changes and decisions to various administration groups of Westminster College. The proposed changes and decisions range from courses to the goals of incoming or transferring students. These committees were short-term; few existed for more than a year.
