Description Pseudotumor cerebri dually occurs in obese patients. When medical therapy such as weight loss and diuretic use fails, and vision loss begins, a shunt procedure such as optic nerve sheath fenestration is necessary. However, another medical therapy may be indicated to reduce the chance of vision loss whether or not a shunt procedure is done.
