Description Scans of letters to and from Marriner S. Eccles, member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, relating to his speech at the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco, California, April 8, 1949. Many were requests for copies of the speech. On other occasions, Eccles offered a copy in response to detailed letters discussing the threat of the Soviets to world peace at the beginning of the Cold War. Includes a two-page statement entitled "The new Maginot line," by Willford I. King, about the establishment of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO); and a four-page pamphlet about J. Anthony Marcus. President of the Institute of Foreign Trade.
