The Downard & Dooley Blacksmithing and Horseshoeing Shop was located south of the Imperial Hall on Vernal Avenue. Joe Collier learned the art of blacksmithing at this shop. He later was able to build his own shop in the Naples area. Joseph (Joe) Collier is the man with the white apron. He was born January 1, 1883 in Provo, Utah. He came to the Ashley Valley, married Myrtle Gardiner, and raised their family here. He died December 9, 1959 in Vernal, Utah. |
