Description |
Lakemobile constructed by Charles Stoddard of West Point, Utah, for transporting sheep and supplies over salt water trails to Fremont Island. In March of 1942, while driving the truck from the island in a foot and a half of water, a large sheet of ice, approximately four inches thick, struck the truck and pushed it about a mile toward the south. When the ice sheet hit a sand bar, it stopped depositing the truck in a quicksand bog where it remained until November. Gift of M.J. Burson, Utah General Depot. |
