Further Information |
The photograph is in excellent condition. On the front of the photograph there is some red ink. On the back of the photograph, in blue ink, are the words: "Lion Statue outside Payne Gymnasium." There is also a printed number on the back, with a red checkmark drawn over part of it.With financial support from Frank Russell Payne, president of the Westminster College board of trustees and manager of the local J.C. Penny Company, the college broke ground on the $55,000 gymnasium on July 17, 1928. Dedicated on January 11, 1929, it was named the Frank Russell Payne Gymnasium in honor of its primary donor. The new facility was used not only by a grateful Westminster student body, but also by a variety of teams and clubs from the Sugar House Area. For information on Frank R.
