Show South side of the Hogle hall dormitories. There are many rooms and some stairs at the center and right side of the building. A roof of another building (likely Ferry Hall) is visible over it. The Hall is surrounded by a field of dirt and an embankment is visible at the lower left. To the left, in the distance, there are some trees, the Science Building, and a parking lot with cars, to the right, there is another tree and another car. |
Further Information |
Some tears in the margins. On the back there is glue and chunks of paper missing. Some black ink reads "Hogle Hall 1969". Hogle Hall was built in 1959 and named in memoriam of the James A. Hogle family for their contributions to the college over the years. It was their generous contribution that made the science building possible in 1949. For more information concerning the James A. Hogle family and Hogle Hall consult the following source: Brackenridge, R. Douglas. Westminster College of Salt Lake City. Logan, Utah: Utah State University Press, 1998, pp. 172, 179, 184, 205-6. Malouf Hall was created as an extension of the Science Building in 1974. It still serves this purpose. The Science Building was funded by a generous contribution from the Hogle family. It was completed in September, 1949. It was eventually renamed after College President Charles H. Dick for his efforts in bringing true stability to the college's operation and promoting the college's reputation "for offering caring and quality education." For information on Charles H. Dick, James A. Hogle, Malouf Hall, and the Science Building, refer to the following source: Brackenridge, R. Douglas. Westminster College of Salt Lake City.
