Dinwoodey's Cabinet Shop, later Dinwoodey's Furniture, and Mormon Tribune (published weekly). The Salt Lake Tribune originated on October 20, 1864, as the "Peep O'Day", then Utah Magazine, a literary magazine published by E. L. T. Harrison and Edward Tullidge as editors. On October 16, 1869, William S. Godbe joined the operation as a financial backer. It became known as the Mormon Tribune on January 1, 1870. The word "Mormon" was dropped July 2, 1870, and on July 2, 1870, its name was changed to The Salt Lake Tribune. On April 15, 1871, it became a daily newspaper. It has been located at eight different locations and has had five groups of owners. |
