Removal of cornice at Twin Lakes [06] |
Photo Number |
P0422n01_02_006 |
Description |
Black and white photograph taken during experiments by Edward La Chapelle using explosives for snow removal and avalanche control in February and March of 1966. This photo shows a cornice blasted with 15 pounds of tetrytol, buried 3 feet deep and stemmed. A large amount of the explosive energy is wasted in the spectacular burst of snow. Contrast this with the first photo. About 60 ft of cornice was removed. |
