Foreign Exchange Student Arrives

A foreign exchange student from the Philippine Islands named Agnes Cargamento (right, age 16) arrived in Salt Lake City July 20, 1974. She will stay in Vernal for a year. She presented Mayor James Drollinger (left) with a letter of greetings from the Mayor of San Fernando, La Union Province in the Philippine Islands. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard E. Heeney were her host family during her stay. She will be a senior at the Uintah High School and is the second student to come to Vernal through the local branch of the American Field Service (AFS) program. This local chapter had only been relatively recently organized in October 1972.
