The University of Utah Men's Golf team completed its first tournament of the year today at the Arizona Intercollegiate, placing 16th after shooting 52-over as a team (904). The teams' best showing of the tournament came on the last day of play as they shot 9-over (293) on the final 18. Junior Blake Tomlinson led the team through three rounds, shooting 7-over par (220) which helped him tie for 28th among the field. Much like the team, Tomlinson's best day of play was the final round where he shot even par overall (71), recording 14 pars and one eagle. Not far behind Tomlinson was fellow Junior Tristan Mandur, who tied for 34th after shooting 9-over par (222). Mandur's best day came in the second round when he shot 2-over par (73), claiming 14 holes at par or better, including two birdies. Senior Mitchell Schow shot 1-under par (70) on the final day of play to help him climb the leader board to tie for 59th. Schow was the only Ute to have a round under par and finished the event 13-over par (226). Redshirt sophomore Colton Tanner and sophomore Axel Einarsson rounded out the team shooting 25-over (238) and 27-over (240) respectively. |
