Additional Information Image was scanned from (faded) color slide. Note: Changdeokgung Palace was the second royal villa built following the construction of Gyeongbukgung Palace in 1405. It was the principal palace for many of the Joseon kings and is the most well-preserved of the five remaining royal Joseon palaces. The palace grounds are comprised of a public palace area, a royal family residence building, and the rear garden. The palace gained importance when a number of kings began using it as a place of residence. The palace was burned down in 1592 and restored in 1611. Several cultural treasures are located on the palace grounds, such as Injeongjeon Hall, Daejojeon Hall, Seonjeongjeon Hall, and Nakseonjae.--Official Visit Korea website. Note: Injeongjeon Hall, the throne hall of Changdeokgung, was used for major state affairs including the coronation of a new king and receiving foreign envoys. Originally built in 1405, it was rebuilt in 1610 after being burned down during the 1592 Japanese invasion, and a third time in 1804 after being destroyed by a fire.--Wikipedia.
