Subject Dry Eye; Sex Hormones; Sjögren's Syndrome (SS); Apoptosis; Caspase-3
Description Dry eye disease occurs mainly due to impairment of lacrimal gland function. Our previous study demonstrated that ovariectomy (OVX) significantly increases the rate of apoptosis and activity of cleaved caspase-3 in the lacrimal gland of a genetically predisposed mouse model (NOD.B10.H2b) of Sjögren's Syndrome (SS) compared to control (C57BL/10) mice.
