Description |
Many organizations and residents rallied to support the war effort collecting old scrap metal. Railroad steel rails were ripped up, and even the old 1896 curfew bell was donated to the cause. In 1942 the Red Cross chapter was one of many orgaizations involved. The group can be seen with a large piece of scrap metal and a Unite State War Production Board, "Salvage" pennant, showing support for the cause. Dorothy McCarrell is holding the flag on the right. |
