Jim Dockery (b. 1955) grew up in Tacoma, Washington. Jim started skiing and climbing at a young age with his father and The Summit Alpine Club members. Jim moved to Salt Lake City after graduating from high school to ski. He attended the University of Utah and enjoyed climbing and backcountry Telemark skiing with friends. Jim is very interested in photography and developed his skills in Little Cottonwood Canyon by the river after bouldering. Jim recounts buildering, memorable local and international climbs, the impact of the Lowe cousins, and applying the Zero Hour principle. After living and teaching in Utah for 10 years, Jim moved to Germany for 8 years to teach at the Department of Defense school. While living in Europe, Jim spent his summers climbing in Chamonix, France. Jim moved back to Washington to teach physical education and continues to backcountry ski. |
