The American Academy of Neurology Held Its First In Person Meeting Since the Pandemic in Seattle, April 2-7, 2022

Seay, DO The American Academy of Neurology Held Its First In Person Meeting Since the Pandemic in Seattle, April 2–7, 2022 W hat was called the “Great Neuro Reunion” was the first in-person meeting of the American Academy of Neurology in Seattle, Washington on April 2–7, 2022. Held at the Convention Center, after showing vaccination status at registration, there was something for everyone in neurology—and especially neuro-ophthalmology. North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS) members were giving courses, speaking at specialized session, and participating in many events. There were several courses given this year by NANOS members, including an ever-popular three-part NeuroOphthalmology course led by Drs. Nancy Newman, Valerie Biousse, and Steve Galetta. Other courses covered Headache Related to High and Low Pressure by Drs. Deborah Friedman and Kathleen Digre; Higher Cortical Visual Disorders by Drs. Marc Dinkin and Sashank Prasad; Pediatric Neuro-Ophthalmology by Drs. Gillian Paton and Shannon Beres; Emergency Room NeuroOphthalmology by Drs. Devin Mackay and Heather Moss; Neuro-Ophthalmology and the Neuro-hospitalist by Drs. Madhu Soni, Nancy Newman, and Russell Bartt; and Neuro-otology by Drs. Dan Gold, Kristen Steenerson, and Terry Fife. A new course this year was the Invited Science: Neuroophthalmology with Drs. Heather Moss, Valerie Biousse, Lindsey DeLott, Dan Milea, Kimberly Gokoffski, Hong Jiang, and Kemar Green (Fig. 1). Many of these courses were featured in the virtual meeting held on April 22–24, 2022 and are available on demand. The Neuro-Ophthalmology–Neuro-Otology (NONO) Section Spotlight showcased the neuroophthalmology pipeline efforts led by our section chair, Dr. Nailyn Rasool, and vice-chair, Dr. Aileen Antonio. Learners were also able to network with our neuroophthalmologists at the Trainee and Faculty Reception (Fig. 3). The 14th Annual Neuro-Ophthalmology Skill course is a hands-on course to learn neuro-ophthalmology examination techniques. The course was coordinated by Dr. Eric Eggenberger and there were 10 NANOS members delivering the course. The course held its annual postcourse dinner at Wild Ginger Restaurant (Fig. 4). The evening closing party featured NANOS member Dan Milea jamming on the saxophone with other neurologists.
