Title |
Check fraud: An analysis of various methods, and deterrence strategies |
Date |
1999-05 |
Year graduated |
1999 |
Description |
This paper presents an analysis of check fraud, implications for businesses and individuals, and ways they can protect themselves. The American Bankers Association found that "more than $1 billion in attempted check fraud" was recorded by commercial banks in 1997 (Barancik 1998, p. 25). Clearly check fraud represents a huge problem for financial institutions as well as everyone in society, because we all pay for this crime. Check fraud is only a fraction of the total frauds committed that make all of us victims. |
