The Utes claimed the top spot in both the weight throw and shot put events at the first day of the BYU Invitational. Junior transfer Cynthia Sanchez, made her debut as a Ute with a first place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 53-10.75. Sophomore Nikki Rudder finished fourth overall in the event with a distance of 52-11.75, beating her previous personal-best mark by more than four feet. In the shot put, the Utes claimed the top two spots. Rudder finished first overall with a new indoor personal-record throw of 46-06.75. Sophomore Candus Aiello posted an indoor personal-best with 44-03 earning her second overall in the event. On the second day of competition, the Utes were led by Angela Kaplar's second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Kaplar set a life- time best 8.64, which ranks third all-time for the Utes. In the 300m event, sophomore Stephanie Muelleck finished first for the Utes (eighth overall) with a time of 42.75. Rosalie Griffin (42.84), Jessica Moviano (43.47), and Kayla McMurray (44.39) finished in the ninth, tenth and eleventh-place, respectively. |
