Title An international perspective on long-term care for the elderly; Suggestions for the United States
Date 1987-06
Year graduated 1987
Description The lessons to be learned in the United States by the examination of the care programs for the elderly in each of the aforementioned countries will be discussed. Some countries are continuing along traditional lines while others are attempting to implement new programs to ease the impact of an aging population. The extent to which some of these programs and policies might be implemented in the U.S. will be evaluated. Finally, possible ways to meet the health and social services demands placed on our country, faced with an increasingly older population, will be proposed. Ways to provide long-term care without bankrupting individuals or creating an excessive burden on the working population will be discussed.
