"Piper's capstone is based on the poem "The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock" by T.S. Eliot. This poem has always carried a very moody, yearning quality to the artist who tried to capture these specific feelings in the colors and values within the imagery. The visual quality of this poem constantly provided symbols to work with and build into the pieces. Though only a few favorites are shown here, the complete form of this project illustrates the poem in its entirety and reimagines it for a book or zine setting." From the artist. Panels include; the pattern of a moth's wings mimic overseeing eyes, the reflection of a party on a displaced pool of water, a man pouring tea, and a sculpture of a woman basked in light. This piece was displayed as part of the 2024 Illustration Capstone exhibition. |
