Scrapbook compiled by Alan K. Engen containing materials illustrative of the history of skiing (mainly in Utah) during the years 1937 through 1939. Includes photographs, newspaper and magazine articles about ski jumping, tournaments, and ski resorts in Utah and Idaho, especially Alta, Ecker Hill, and Sun Valley, and tracks the career of Alf Engen as both skier and ski area developer for the U.S. Forest Service. There are also articles about Alf Engen's marriage to Evelyn Pack in 1938; his 1943 Ski Patrol certificate; historical articles on Alta from the Alta Powder News, 1974 and 1987; and several historical notes composed by Alan K. Engen. |
